College of Creation

Bards of the College of Creation see the world as a canvas waiting to be filled. Drawing on the primordial Song of Creation said to have shaped the cosmos itself, these bards weave music and magic into tangible form — conjuring objects from nothing, breathing animation into the inanimate, and inspiring allies with performances that resonate with the echoes of that first great act of making. Where other bards collect lore or hone martial technique, a bard of the College of Creation reaches toward the moment before the world existed and pulls something new into being.

Subclass Features

Note of Potential

3rd-level College of Creation feature

When you join the College of Creation at 3rd level, whenever you give a creature a Bardic Inspiration die, you can imbue that die with a fragment of the Song of Creation. When the creature rolls the Bardic Inspiration die, it gains a bonus effect based on the result:

  • Roll of 1–6: The creature and each creature of its choice within 5 feet of it gain temporary hit points equal to the number rolled plus your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
  • Roll of 7–10: The creature can use its reaction to move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
  • Roll of 11 or higher: The creature can add the result to one damage roll it makes as part of the action or reaction that prompted it to use the Bardic Inspiration die.

Performance of Creation

3rd-level College of Creation feature

Also at 3rd level, as an action you can channel the Song of Creation to conjure one nonmagical item of your choice in an unoccupied space within 10 feet of you. The item must appear on a surface or in a liquid that can support it, and its value in gold pieces cannot exceed \(20\) times your bard level. The item can be no larger than 5 feet on a side. It remains for a number of hours equal to your proficiency bonus, after which it vanishes. The item is obviously magical — it shimmers faintly with harmonic resonance — and cannot be used as a material component or sold.

Once you create an item with this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 2nd level or higher to use it again. You can have only one item created by this feature at a time; if you use the feature again, the first item immediately vanishes.

Animating Performance

6th-level College of Creation feature

Starting at 6th level, as an action you can target one Large or smaller nonmagical object that you can see within 30 feet of you and animate it with the spark of creation. The animated object is treated as a construct and acts on your initiative count, immediately after you. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you) and remains animate for 1 hour, until it is reduced to 0 hit points, or until you are incapacitated or die, at which point it becomes inanimate once more.

The animated object has the following statistics:

  • Armor Class: 16 (natural armor)
  • Hit Points: \(10 + 5\) times your bard level
  • Speed: 30 ft.
  • Attack: One melee attack with a bonus equal to your spell attack bonus, dealing \(1d10\) bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage (your choice when you animate it) plus your Charisma modifier.

The animated object has immunity to poison and psychic damage, is immune to the poisoned and charmed conditions, and does not need to breathe, eat, or sleep.

You can animate an object in this way a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Creative Crescendo

14th-level College of Creation feature

At 14th level, the scope of your Performance of Creation grows dramatically. When you use Performance of Creation, you can create a number of additional items equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one additional item). Each additional item must be different from the others created in the same use of the feature, must meet all the usual restrictions, and vanishes at the same time as the first item.

In addition, the maximum value of each item you create with Performance of Creation increases to \(500\) gold pieces times your bard level, and each item you create can now be up to 10 feet on a side.
