Drakewarden

Your connection to the natural world takes the form of a draconic spirit, which can manifest in physical form as a drake. As your powers grow, your drake grows alongside you, blossoming from a small hatchling into a majestic creature capable of aiding you in combat and exploration.

Subclass Features

Draconic Gift

3rd-level Drakewarden feature

At 3rd level, the bond you share with your draconic spirit grants you a measure of draconic power. You learn the draconic language and the thaumaturgy cantrip.

Drake Companion

3rd-level Drakewarden feature

At 3rd level, as an action, you can magically summon the drake that is bound to you. It appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of you. The drake remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to summon the drake again, or until you die.

The drake obeys your commands, and on your turn you can use a bonus action to direct it to take the Attack, Dash, Disengage, or Help action. If you don't issue a command, it takes the Dodge action.

You choose the drake's damage type when you first bond with it: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. Your drake's attacks deal damage of the chosen type.

Bond of Fang and Scale

7th-level Drakewarden feature

At 7th level, the drake grows to Medium size, and the bond between you and your drake strengthens. While your drake is summoned, you and the drake gain the following benefits:

  • The drake has a flying speed equal to its walking speed.
  • The drake's attacks deal an extra \(1d6\) damage of its damage type.
  • When either you or the drake is hit by an attack roll, the other can use its reaction to halve the attack's damage against the affected target.

Drake's Breath

11th-level Drakewarden feature

At 11th level, as an action, you can command your drake to exhale a breath weapon in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking \(4d6\) damage of the drake's damage type on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Perfected Bond

15th-level Drakewarden feature

At 15th level, your drake grows to Large size and the bond between you reaches its peak. While your drake is summoned, you and the drake gain the following benefits:

  • The drake's attacks deal an extra \(1d6\) damage of its damage type (for a total of \(2d6\) extra damage).
  • When the drake takes damage, you can use your reaction to grant it resistance to that damage.
  • When you are grappled, restrained, or knocked prone, the drake can use its reaction to end that condition on you.
