Order of Scribes
Wizards of the Order of Scribes believe that knowledge preserved is power multiplied. Where other wizards treat their spellbooks as mere tools, Scribes form a profound bond with their books — a living repository of magical thought. These wizards are archivists of the arcane, and their mastery of the written word gives them abilities that other traditions can scarcely imagine.

Subclass Features
Wizardly Quill
2nd-level Order of Scribes feature
As a bonus action, you can magically create a Wizardly Quill in your free hand. The quill writes twice as fast as a normal quill and requires no ink. When you use this quill to copy a spell into your spellbook, doing so costs you no gold, though it still requires the normal amount of time. The quill disappears if you create another one or if you die.
Awakened Spellbook
2nd-level Order of Scribes feature
Your spellbook gains a semblance of sentience, enhancing your spellcasting in three ways:
- When you cast a wizard spell using a spell slot, you can temporarily replace its material component with a page from your spellbook, removing the need for a component pouch or arcane focus. That page returns to the book when the spell is cast.
- When you cast a prepared wizard spell that deals damage, you can change its damage type to match the damage type of another damage-dealing spell currently in your spellbook.
- If you cast a ritual spell from your spellbook, the casting time is reduced by 10 minutes (to a minimum of 1 minute).
Master Scrivener
6th-level Order of Scribes feature
During a long rest, you can use your Wizardly Quill to temporarily transcribe a spell from your spellbook into a special scroll. The scroll can contain any spell in your spellbook, even one of a level higher than you could normally scribe onto a scroll. The scroll can be used to cast the spell once without consuming it. The scroll falls apart at the end of your next long rest.
One with the Word
10th-level Order of Scribes feature
Your bond with your spellbook has deepened profoundly. While your spellbook is on your person, you have advantage on Intelligence (Arcana) checks and you can't be surprised.
Additionally, if your spellbook is damaged while on your person, you can use your reaction to channel the book's magical essence into yourself to prevent the damage entirely. When you do so, you take \(2d6\) necrotic damage per level of the highest-level spell in the book. This damage can't be reduced in any way.
Spell Duplicator
14th-level Order of Scribes feature
Once per long rest, when you see a creature cast a spell of 7th level or lower, you can use your reaction to study the magical patterns and add it to your spellbook, provided it is a wizard spell and not already in your book.
